Night Tiger

This snake is a real beauty - it's the brown tree snake, Boiga irregularis. You might recall it's the species that has caused ecological havoc on Guam where it's introduced. In Australia however, it's native, and up here in the top end we have the so-called 'night tiger' form.

Nice photos. From a previous post I gather your using the Pentax AF-360 FGZ flash. Is that in wireless mode and using TTL flash ? Any problems, especially with macro ?

I generally use P-TTL and an off-camera cord. I get a few minor problems - overexposure at ISOs higher than 100, the occasional connection problem (i.e. in the rain the other night the flash wouldn't go on p-ttl mode, only ttl and it would overexpose.

As it happens, for these Boiga pics I actually used the flash wirelessly in P-TTL mode - no problems.

These gorgeous animals used to curl up to sleep in the spokes of the shade umbrellas at the cafe ... We always moved tables. It was best thing for everyone!

Thanks for the info. Do you use the Pentax leads and hotshoe adapters, they seem very expensive. There is a cheaper combination lead (ProMaster) but it doesn't seem to be available in Australia and most US companies don't seem to do international orders.

Possibly the over exposure problems with higher ISO are because the flash can't achieve a short enough flash time.

I use the pentax bits purchased from KEH.com.

Thanks again. KEH look really good, although they don't currently have the flash connectors. Prices for Pentax accessories in Australia are excessive.
